Cheddar Quick Bread

2 cups flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
2 cups shredded CRACKER BARREL Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten

Mix dry ingredients; cut in butter until mixture resembles
coarse crumbs.

Stir in cheese. Add combined milk and egg, mixing just until
moistened. Spoon into greased and floured 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Bake at 400°F for 45 minutes. Cool 5 minutes; remove from pan.

Mexican Cheese Bread: Substitute 1 pkg. (8 oz.) KRAFT Mexican
Shredded Cheese for shredded Cracker Barrel cheese and stir in
1 can (4.5 oz.) chopped green chiles, drained.

Makes 12 servings (1 loaf)
