French Onion Soup 4 cups thinly sliced onion 1/4 cup butter or margarine 3 HERB-OX® beef bouillon cubes 2¾ cups water 4 1-inch slices French bread, toasted 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese 1 (2-ounce) jar HORMEL® real bacon pieces, divided Salt and pepper to taste In saucepan, sauté onion in butter until tender. Dissolve bouillon in water. Stir water, 1/2 cup bacon pieces, salt, and pepper into onions. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Ladle into 4 ovenproof soup bowls. Top with bread slices and sprinkle with cheese and remaining bacon pieces. Broil 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese melts. Makes 4 servings.
